Welcome!

My name is Justin Hodgins, and I am a first year teaching candidate in the Urban Communities cohort at the University of Ottawa. I am currently studying how to convey my love of chemistry and math at the intermediate and senior level.

To clarify, I have chosen to focus on learning how to teach my two favorite topics to classes ranging from grades 7 to 12 with an emphasis on how to properly navigate urban settings. While those topics may be quite demanding, my genuine love for the sciences and passion to inspire future scientists has guided students through the toughest of topics.

In 2017, I received my Bachelors in Science with Honours in Chemistry from the University of Ottawa. During my honours project, I chose to investigate environmentally friendly water splitting using nano/phototechnology with the Scaiano group. To continue my interest in bettering the environment, I later took the opportunity to explore re-usable water purification techniques.

In the past, I've had the opportunity to be a part of numerous learning environments, ranging from being a leader in leadership camps to being a teaching assistant. Through these experiences, I have learned to keep my outlook positive, my approaches modern, and above all, my teaching inclusive.
